Faces of Faith Celebrates 2021 Class of Survivors Virtually
By Rosemary Nabukeera | DF/HCC Communications
On June 2nd, the DF/HCC Faces of Faith photo display — sponsored by the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center in Partnership with Union Capital Boston — was held virtually in celebration of cancer survivorship. The newest Faces of Faith, brave, high-spirited, and inspirational cancer survivors photographed by Sam Ogden, were unveiled with reading of faith statements. The goal of this annually held exhibit, according to Karen Burns White, Deputy Associate Director for the DF/HCC Initiative to Eliminate Cancer Disparities, is to "help demystify cancer, and to support those who are living witnesses that one can maintain a vibrant life as a cancer survivor."
This year not only marked the 9th anniversary of the DF/HCC Faces of Faith, but it's also a milestone, according to Karen.
Karen says this commitment to destigmatize the negative connotations associated with cancer has extended beyond Greater Boston to Western Massachusetts since Baystate Health launched their first Faces of Faith exhibit in April 2022, two months prior to DF/HCC's Faces of Faith.
