ClinicalTrials.gov Modernized PRS effective August 28, 2024 - Guidance and Troubleshooting Known Issues with Update
August 27, 2024
On August 28, 2024, the ClinicalTrials.gov website began to transition to the new “look” of the modernized ClinicalTrials.gov website, now known as the Modernized PRS. The fundamentals have stayed the same, but there is a new layout and some key new features to note. At this time, Modernized PRS has only been implemented to the “Registration” section of the Clinicaltrials.gov record.
To help facilitate this transition for our teams, ODQ has created abrief video walkthrough of the new Modernized PRS Registration Section.
Key updates in the Modernized PRS:
- Enhanced, user-friendly interface with a fresh color scheme, larger fonts, and clearly identifiable sections and labels.
- Improved navigation between sections and modules of the study record using tabs at the top of the page and a left-hand menu.
- Accessible on-screen guidance and slide-out drawer help content with relevant data element definitions.
- Redesigned Record List allowing selection of columns, customization of views, saving customized views, and exporting columns to .xlsx or .csv. PRS Administrators can access and customize additional columns for planning and public site views.
- Modernized Record Summary page to view and access quality-assurance/quality-control review comments directly in the relevant protocol registration modules.
At this time, other functions, such as uploading records, managing Results, Delayed Results, and Study Documents, are not yet available in the Modernized PRS. These sections will continue to be accessible from the Classic PRS found on the modernized website. Our understanding is that these sections are still under development and will be available in the future, at which time we will communicate additional updates.
Guidance/Troubleshooting Known Issues with the Transition:
The transition to the “Modernized PRS” view has not been as smooth as hoped and some of our records have been flagging with erroneous errors. ODQ has been in contact with Clinicaltrials.gov regarding the erroneous errors and have been told a fix is in process. Please note, the “Classic PRS“ View of the Clinicaltrials.gov database is correctly reporting any problem records in the DFCI Clinicaltrials.gov database .
While we wait for the fix, please review and update your Clinicaltrials.gov record from the Classic PRS of Clinicaltrials.gov.
To access the Classic PRS:
At login select Classic PRS which will bring you to a tick box selection of Modernized or Classic. Select Classic PRS and Login as normal.
